Prep Cook/Kitchen Assistant

Description:

We are currently seeking a dedicated Prep Cook to join our kitchen team for the upcoming season. If you are searching for a unique seasonal opportunity to cook, be on the water, and contribute to a Maine tradition, this position is perfect for you. As a Prep Cook, you will play a vital role in the overall management of the kitchen, ensuring a smooth workflow and the creation of delicious culinary offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

- Bake cakes with consistency and attention to detail.
- Prep ingredients for chowder in accordance with established recipes.
- Assist in the service area during peak times.
- Cut, plate, and serve cakes to meet quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace throughout the shift.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.

Requirements:

- Must be legally eligible to work in the US
- Ability to stand for several hours on end during a shift.
- Capability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Kitchen experience is a plus but not required; willingness to learn and contribute to a team is essential.

Ticket Booth Representative

We are currently seeking a cheerful, customer-focused individual to join our team as a Ticket Booth Representative. The ideal candidate will often be the first point of contact for our guests and will assist them with scheduling their clambake.

Responsibilities:

- Greet and assist customers with enthusiasm, serving as the initial point of contact.
- Effectively manage ticket sales and reservation processes.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Answer phones and address customer inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Check-in customers and issue tickets promptly.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Contribute to creating a positive and memorable customer experience.

Requirements:

While prior experience is preferred, we are willing to provide training for the right candidate who demonstrates the qualities and enthusiasm needed for the role.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-centric environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Previous customer service and cash handling experience preferred.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities.
- Comfortable working a full-time seasonal schedule from Tuesday to Saturday.


Boat Crew

We are seeking enthusiastic, hardworking individuals to join our team as Deck Crew Members aboard the M/V Bennie Alice. This is a unique opportunity to work along Maine’s beautiful coast and be an integral part of the Cabbage Island Clambakes experience. No prior maritime experience is required—comprehensive training will be provided to prepare you for success.

Responsibilities:

- Assist with transporting freight to and from Cabbage Island.
- Greet passengers with a warm and friendly demeanor, creating a positive first impression.
- Ensure customer safety and comfort during transit.
- Serve tables upon arrival on Cabbage Island, contributing to a memorable dining experience.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient vessel operations and passenger satisfaction.

Requirements:
While no prior maritime experience is necessary, we are looking for candidates who bring the following qualities:

- A positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
- A willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with passengers and team members effectively.

Eligibility:

- Must be 17 years of age or older.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, per U.S. Coast Guard regulations.
- Must submit to preliminary and random drug screenings as required by the U.S. Coast Guard.


JOAT (Jack/Jill of All Trades)

Job Description

Are you a student seeking a summer job that involves working outdoors, making friends, and being an integral part of the Cabbage Island Clambakes experience? Look no further! We are currently hiring JOATs (Jacks of All Trades) to join our team. As a JOAT you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of each clambake on picturesque Cabbage Island.

Responsibilities

As a JOAT, you will be involved in a variety of tasks that contribute to the smooth execution of our clambakes. Key responsibilities include:

- Hauling Lobsters: Accurately and quickly count and move fresh lobsters.
- Groundskeeping: Assist with lawn mowing, raking, trash pickup, and more
- Hauling Freight: Ensure freight is moved and stored properly
- Washing Trays: Ensure that serving trays are clean and ready for use during clambakes.
- Pulling Seaweed: Harvest fresh seaweed from the island’s shore
- Washing Vegetables: Assist in preparing fresh vegetables.
- Assist the bake with duties as assigned

This position is available on both a part-time and full-time basis, and all we ask is that you bring a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. This is an excellent opportunity for students looking to spend their summer immersed in a dynamic and team-oriented environment.
